Biltmore Estate & House
George W. Vanderbilt’s 8,000-acre estate includes the 250-room Biltmore House, 75 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the nation’s most visited Antler Hill Village and Winery, shopping, dining, hiking/biking trails and seasonal events and activities. (E.g. Christmas is a great time to visit). Plan an entire day and check out the events calendar ahead of your visit.
Franklin Fitness Center
A great place for adults and children alike, especially in cooler or inclement outdoor weather. Located approximately 5 miles from Buttercup Haven at 214 East Main Street, the Center offers North Carolina’s only indoor pool that features heated salt water. Other amenities include cardio and strength training facilities; KidsZone for your children to enjoy while you are working out, classes and a smoothie bar. The Center caters to visitors with daily, weekly and monthly passes. Weekly passes are $35 (1 person); $50 (2 people); $65 (3 people); $80 (4 people). etc… 10 people would be $170.
A great family fun and dining destination with over 100 arcade games, the region’s largest go cart track, ten bowling lanes, laser tag, indoor mini golf, a kid’s play area for smaller children and much more. Check the website for coupons and height requirements (listed under each Attraction).
Visit one of three museums in Franklin. The Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum occupies the “Old Macon County Jail” where it opened its doors to the public on May 25, 1974. Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts
This 1,500 seat state-of-the-art facility is an unexpected find for a small town and yet it offers the finest in performing arts. Performances include passion plays, musical productions, professional drama troupes, dance and choral festivals, recitals, and various music genres.
