The Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum occupies the “Old Macon County Jail” where it opened its doors to the public on May 25, 1974. Open from May 1st to October 31st, Monday through Saturday from 12 pm to 4 pm. From Nov. 1st – April 30th the museum is open on Saturdays from 12pm-4pm.

The Scotish Tartans Museum & Gift Shop was recently opened and is the only one of its kind in the United States, focusing on the history of Scottish Highland clothing. The museum also offers an extensive look into Scottish culture, history, and migration. If you have a Scottish heritage, you can request the staff to look up your surname to learn which clan or district you are affiliated with.
