Whitewater Falls

If you love waterfalls, you’ve come to the right place! There are several area waterfalls within a short drive, including Bridal Veil Falls, Dry Falls and Glen Falls and Cullasaja Falls. See more here.

Just over an hour’s drive from Buttercup Haven is Whitewater Falls on the Whitewater River in the Jocassee Gorge area of North Carolina – in Jackson County. It’s the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, falling 811 ft. Click here for directions.

From Buttercup Haven, you can reach Whitewater Falls via Glenville, or consider going via Highlands and Cashiers to stop at more falls on the way and to have lunch (or take a picnic with you.)

If we haven’t whetted your appetite yet (excuse the pun), this first amazing aerial video by WNC is both breathtaking and dramatic. The second clip gives you very useful information on how to find Whitewater Falls and what to expect when you get there, including parking and viewing spots.
